1. Sleepless on TV
What is Sleepless? Sleepless is a dramatic anthology series for public access television. Each episode is cinematic in style and proportions. The episodes are 1-2 hours long or longer.

Each episode may have a wildly different story, style and characters, but they all occur within a single continuity, "The Sleepless universe."

When and where can it be seen? Sleepless is on 'Olelo public access cable on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. Oceanic and TCI cable both carry 'Olelo's ATTN on channel 52. These cable systems reach over 210,000 locations across Oahu.

We are currently being shown on random days at or after midnight.

How long has Sleepless been on? Sleepless began in November 1993. Since then it has run continuously, sometimes as often as twice a week. That's six years now, by the way.

Why is Sleepless only on after midnight? Our friends at 'Olelo have decided that because some episodes of Sleepless contain "adult" material such as blood & gore, high-tech swearing and disrespectful attitudes, Sleepless will only air after midnight. In the past, they aired Sleepless as early as 10PM.

How can I see Sleepless if I don't live on Oahu? You'll have to take some initiative. We are willing to send VHS tapes to you AT COST. That means you pay for the cost of the tape, packaging, and shipping. We make no profit. The good news is that's pretty cheap. Scroll down to section 5 to find out how to contact us.

2. Vertov Industries
What is Vertov Industries? Vertov Industries is a group of not-so-like-minded individuals, formed with the goal of creating the Sleepless TV series & other innovative works of fiction. Vertov Industries is willing to tell stories that no one else would.

So is your name Vertov? Vertov Industries is named in honor of Dziga Vertov, a pioneering Constructivist filmmaker of the early twentieth century. We have no direct relationship with the historical Dziga Vertov or his family. That wasn't his real name anyway.

How many people are in Vertov Industries? Over the years, there have been many, many team members and participants, but the core team has remained relatively small through its many incarnations.

3. Other Vertov Projects
Besides Sleepless, what else do you do? Vertov Industries also creates Sleepless stuff such as patches, soundtracks, books and more. Live events, screenings and gallery exhibits like the recent Battle for the Planet of Sleepless complete the Sleepless schedule.

V.I. is involved in community partnerships to produce videos in the world of education as well.

What about that other show? Vertov Industries also authorizes the series Sleepeeze, made by the fans of Sleepless. You may even recognize characters from Sleepless.

Sleepeeze is not on regularly, but watch this page, and we'll post any airdates and times.

4. Sleepless Behind the Scenes
How much do you get paid for making this show? Nothing. Members of the community are paid nothing for producing shows on 'Olelo. Expenses come out of our own pockets. The Sleepless cast and crew are unpaid. That's what makes them so dangerous.

How do people join the cast and crew? Ordinary people from all walks of life have joined the Vertov Industries team. And then quit. And then come back.

Anyway, if you think you have something to offer, contact us. Call, write, or e-mail. We may get back to you. We are less likely to overlook a written introduction, as opposed to a phone message. Especially if you sound drunk.

How do you get your fake guns? What fake guns?

Where do you get that fake blood? What fake blood?

How do you make it look like a giant slug comes out of a swimming pool and these guys shoot it with a laser and it dies? I think latex is involved.

What kinds of cameras do you use? They're all black and plastic-looking. It would take a engineer to explain it, and me, I'm in the humanities!

Who runs your web stuff? We do. The same people who make and appear in Sleepless. That's us. I have been told this strategy is called Total Quality Management.

What's the difference between your two sites? Well, the News site is constantly updated with the latest events from the world of the Sleepless. The Infotainment Archive holds a large concentration of older info. Explore both for the complete "Sleepless Experience" as I like to call it.

Do you really care what viewers think? We want to get a better understanding of our viewership. And if any "fans" of the show were to emerge, that would be terrific. Most of the fans of the show whom we've met in the past now work with us. Like me, for instance.

Who are you anyway? I'm not telling.

What are Sleepless fans called? We have invented the term "Sleepeeze." Sleepeeze traditionally express their attitude toward Sleepless by shouting "Sleepless rules!" or, "Sleepless rulez!"

I think [insert name of female cast member here] is hot. How can I meet her? Um . . . she's not here anymore.

I think [insert name of male cast member here] is hot. How can I meet him? Me?

6. The Future
When is a new Sleepless coming out? First, let me say that if you haven't already seen the nine episodes in current rotation, they're new to you!

Beyond that, our epic Pieces of... trilogy is coming. The first part will be ready is short order, followed closely by the next two parts. All three episodes are deep into production right now. Trust me; you won't be disappointed. Unless you're expecting a drama set in Victorian-era England. Also, a new set of reruns will appear prior to the first Pieces.

But when exactly will that be? Well, let's just say our Pieces trilogy is significantly ahead of the new Star Wars trilogy.

Okay, now we're a little behind them. Have faith.

Is that all you're working on? We are always working on other side projects and programs. Keep your eyes open.
